HHSM logoHill House St. Mary's is an independent day school for boys and girls from 2 1/2 to 16 years old. The move to a new building, formerly the Officer's Quarters at RAF Finningly will provide distinct areas for Lower School & Nursery, Middle School and Senior School. The central area of the building will contain kitchen and dining, main assembly hall, main library and research centre, music and drama areas and administration. The total site area including the playing fields is 3.2 Ha (7.9 acres) and the area of the buildings internally is over 7,000 sq m. R J Cadman moved onto the site in November 07 and preparatory work is well underway to refurbish the lovely old buildings and to restore them to their former glory. The buildings are in sound structural condition but require substantial work to refurbish and modernise. The work being carried out will involve stripping out the whole interior and creating a school with all modern teaching facilities. The character of the site which is ideally suited to use as an independent school will, as far as possible, be retained. Retaining many existing quality features will be key to the refurbishment – these include attractive plasterwork in some areas, polished wooden floors in the large reception halls, existing window style, and wooden panelling where fitted. The new School will be ready for the Michaelmas Term 2008.
